ABOUT THE PRACTITIONER Ruth Adams was born in Britain and moved to Israel in 1991. Then in August 2010 she moved again, this time to Dublin. She has both Jewish and Celtic roots. From her school days it had always disturbed Ruth that some people could be classed as "less intelligent" than other people. She never believed that a human being had the right or the ability to limit another human being's potential - or their future. Then in 1994 she came across the work of Professor Reuven Feuerstein and was taken by his words that "you can't measure someone's intelligence but you can improve it". She was impressed to see that he had revealed genius in so-called "retarded" people. She decided to learn and work according to his methods and she started to work with school children who were having problems with their work and with reading and writing generally. The work she did is called "Instrumental enrichment" and is a cognitive intervention programme which greatly enhances peoples' thinking and learning ability, if it is used in the right way (http://www.icelp.org/asp/main.asp). After a few years of working with children and young adults privately, Ruth also began to work in a rehabilitation hostel in Israel. It was very rewarding to see people who have never really believed in themselves before, become transformed as if some kind of light had been switched on inside them. This kind of work taught Ruth a lot, not only about dealing with people who are especially challenged; but also about dealing with people who live "normal" lives. Ruth had always been a spiritual person and in 2006 she became very interested in energy healing. She trained in psych-k and EFT and then later on learnt Theta healing. These healing methods led her to make some dramatic discoveries about her own life and she began to sometimes use these healing methods in her work with challenged young people, to help them overcome emotional blocks and to supplement the cognitive work that she was doing with them. In addition to that she started to work with people in the wider population. Ruth is a perceptive and sensitive practitioner. She has worked with people overcoming traumas, depression, addictions, physical pain, relationship problems, stress/anxiety and power issues; as well as with people who are challenged by learning problems and/or physical (brain or chromosomal) disorders. In all her work she is continually reminded of the greatness of the people with whom she works. She is also reminded of the power and potency of speech and thought. How you think about a person and how you speak to them, affects their experience and can transform their life.
